About Gus Franklyn-Bute

Gus Franklyn-Bute

I am ecstatically proud of my humble Vincentian roots and forever indebted to so, so many for the richness of my life's journey. I am at times a 'complex sentence' but live a simple life.

As a perpetual student with degrees in Caribbean Studies and Classical Civilisation, and Development Studies, my career has been interesting - but whose hasn't?! To satisfy the curious my worked life is peppered with stints in private and public sectors and international organisations like the British Council, Commonwealth Secretariat, InvestSVG, UN FAO, Assicuraznioni Generali, Jardine Mattheson and more recently the Hong Kong Government.

I love and boldly embrace my Caribbean region and our Global Diaspora with all its nuances and collective possibilities. My vision is for the Caribbean community and peoples to be deeply embedded and leading in the global arenas, particularly driving demand for our creative industries in pan-Asia. Life makes me a fearless traveller and I am happiest in the pleasures of family and friends, especially when there is good food and fine rum to share. My family in particular never fail to amaze and make him laugh, almost daily.
