The management partnership of Kevin Ayoung-Julien, the creative mind behind the fashion label, and CEO, Liza Miller continues the forward march towards establishing a sustainable international footprint, both for the brand and as a showcase of the best Caribbean fashion. In 2013, Kaj Designs was the first Caribbean fashion label to exhibit and show at BLUEPRINT trade show during Singapore’s premier fashion event, Asia Fashion Exchange (AFX). That year, Kaj was also the first among Caribbean counterparts to showcase at the exclusive The Fashion Festival in Bali, Indonesia. 2014 continue to be an active year for Kaj Designs when in March the label launched its resort line at a London-based online boutique, Global Runway.
One of the highlights of boutique opening was The KajFAB Anthology -a representation of the evolution of the Kaj aesthetic which showed selected pieces from Kaj collections dating from 2007 to present. Guests were treated to show-stopping pieces from the collection, Eccensual, which made its runway debut at the 2007 Caribbean Fashionweek (CFW). Eccentric combinations of wild animal prints followed with the 2008 collection, WILD THINGS, first unveiled at the inaugural Fashion Week Trinidad and Tobago (FWTT). Kaj Designs’ penultimate collection followed, with vibrant pieces from the label’s first resort line in 2010, Shore Culture. Closing the anthology was the luxuriously simple, Kaj Resort 2014 collection, Tribu Sauvage.
Kaj Designs recently showed at Color Revolution 2014 in St. Maarten presenting a ‘safari’ collection in soft tribal and animal prints, whose earthy tones were accented in leather detailing.
